Mu variable referencing

NONMEM 7 introduces the Mu variable to help in the new estimation procedures. These mu variables inform NONMEM how THETAs are associated with ETAs. This association, PHI must be of the form of:

PHI_i=MU_i(theta)+ETA(i)

For the best results when using MU_i to help minimization,

  • MU_i must be defined in terms of ETA_i
  • When a relationship is defined later in the text it must be explicitly MU_i + EPS(1)
  • Once a MU is defined, any THETA values relating to MU may not be used again.
